The Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency engaged us to devise a school campaign to raise awareness for climate change and the challenges at hand.
Our outcome? We devised the peer-to-peer campaign "Shout out for climate change" to inspire action and make a difference to the future of our planet.
The campaign targeted art, advertising and communications students around Australia, asking them to create a 60 second advertisement to motivate their peers to take action against climate change. Teachers and their students were approached in primary, secondary and tertiary levels across the nation to engage in different ways.
Tertiary students were asked to create a media and promotion plan outlining how they would gain maximum national exposure for their advertisement. The winning entry for tertiary students was a 4–6-week internship at Ogilvy and Mather Worldwide.
The judging panel was made up of industry professionals, a climate change scientist, education and media specialists including Mike Daniels (MD, Ogilvy & Mather), Nick Cummins (CD, DDB Melbourne), Rosalind Willett (MP, Willett), Tanya Ha and Brooke Satchwell.
Entries were published online where viewers were able to vote in the People’s Choice Award category.
The campaign was promoted in schools and tertiary institutions via social media, PR, direct mail and websites.
3,000 entries were received.
